Smokin-It Model #3 Electric Smoker Review
If you are looking for an electric smoker that will be able to handle all of your smoking needs then look no further. This smoker will blow any other electric smoker out of the water in terms of features and durability. Simply put, this thing is a tank. You could slap on a $2000 price tag in this smoker and it would still be worth all of that money. Luckily, it does not cost that much and you are able to pick up one of these electric smokers for around $500. At that price this smoker is a steal, there are many other electric smokers that run upwards of $5,000 – $10,000 that do not have all of the features that thisSmokin-Itelectric smoker has.
You will be pleasantly surprised when you get this thing out of the shipping box, since it is made out of 18 gauge stainless steel it is incredibly durable. You might even mistake this smoker as a mini tank! This smoker is built with the highest quality material and will be able to run for years, that is why they have put a 3 year warranty on all of f their smokers.
It has two latches on the front that will keep the front door to the smoker securely shut at all times so that no heat can escape. Along with those two latches, it is also fully insulated with fiberglass which will further help to keep all of the heat inside. Since it is so well insulated you will be able to smoke whenever you want in any type of weather. Whether it is 10 degrees out or 100 degrees, this smoker will the heat consistent throughout the whole smoking process. This is the best electric smoker that I have seen in terms of keeping the outside weather out and the inside heat in.
Pros And Cons
Topping the list of pros for this smoker are the most evident visual features: Stainless steel construction, 3-inch rubber casters that it can roll around on, and a pretty large store of meat, fish, and poultry. The automatic temperature control is a very useful addition that makes using this smoker much easier than others of the same type and size class.
Thanks to its intelligent design, it is very easy to load in your preferred meats or fish, set the temperature and let the smoker do the rest for you. The wheels make it easy to push it back into a unobtrusive spot where you can pull it back out again after a few hours (or days, if you prefer) and pull out your perfectly smoked meal from inside.
There are not many cons for this unit- other then the fact that it is too heavy for one person to lift. However the heavy duty castors help off set that. Also be sure that the 22 lbs of meat capacity is enough for your needs.
Summary and Conclusion
For serious use, this smoker is the business. It’s made of restaurant grade materials all the way through and it’s solid as a wrecking ball. The heating element is a really powerful 800W, and even better, they’re incredibly cheap to replace and just clip in and out if it ever needs replacing.
There’s a massive amount of internal space across 4 racks. The manufacturers say this should hold around 35lbs of meat with ease, and it’s not hard to see why.
Considering the build quality and fact that this beast will keep on cooking all day every day, it’s an excellent pick for anyone who sees serious use out of their smoker. If you’ve got an operation going that needs a smoker this size, this is a great pickup, and if you’ve got a major event coming and need to make sure your smoker will handle it, this definitely will.
Unfortunately, for the home market, it’s hard to recommend. Unlike everything else at this range, this smoker has no digital controls and no automation. If I was dropping this much on a smoker for casual use, I’d want it to do as much of the work as possible.
In short, if you’re semi-pro at smoking meat or above, this smoker performs great. If you’re looking for something to stick on the deck and cook great tasting meat for family and friends, this is too much. Grab the Masterbuilt or even the Smokin-it model 1 instead.
